The City of Edmonds is launching a Fiscal Sustainability Task Force to strengthen transparency, improve public understanding of city finances, and support the development of long-term fiscal solutions.

The initiative reflects the City's commitment to working collaboratively with residents to address budget challenges and identify responsible recommendations for the future.

The task force will bring together residents, business owners, subject-matter experts, and city staff to review financial trends, examine budget priorities, and develop recommendations for City leadership. The group will meet regularly, with updates and recommendations presented during public City Council meetings.

"Our city is facing complex fiscal challenges, and community involvement is essential," said Council President Michelle Dotsch, M.D. "This task force will help us engage directly with residents, improve understanding of our budget, and develop thoughtful recommendations that reflect Edmonds' values."

The Fiscal Sustainability Task Force will focus on:
Increasing public understanding of the City's revenues, expenditures, and financial trends.
Developing community-informed recommendations to support long-term fiscal sustainability.
Promoting transparency in the City's financial decision-making process.
Creating meaningful opportunities for residents to participate in discussions about Edmonds' financial future.

Residents interested in serving on the task force, attending meetings, or providing input are encouraged to visit the Fiscal Sustainability Task Force page for information about the application process, selection criteria, meeting schedules, and opportunities for public participation.

The Edmonds City Council encourages broad community participation and looks forward to working with residents to help shape a fiscally sustainable future for the City.
