Mayors' Climate Protection Committee

The City of Edmonds is a leader in adapting to climate change and mitigating greenhouse gas emissions. As community members appointed by the Mayor, the CPC meets monthly to address the impacts of climate change on Edmonds. The mission of the CPC is to advise the mayor on actions to reduce Edmonds' impact on climate change and increase Edmonds' resilience to climate hazards.

2024 Fall Speaker Series


Residents are invited to a speaker series which will address various aspects of the climate change issue affecting Edmonds and the Puget Sound region.

The series takes place on three dates:  Wednesday October 2nd, 16th, and 30th and all will be held in Community Room B at the Edmonds Waterfront Center and online via Zoom.

The series will feature local experts, faculty from Edmonds College, and the University of Washington as well as a representative from the State Department of Ecology. Audience engagement is strongly encouraged. The themes for each evening will be:

* October 2 – Sea Level Rise and Coastal Implications

* October 16 – Climate Impacts to Flora and Fauna

* October 30 – Atmospheric Science and Climate

Doors will open at 5:45pm and talks will commence at 6:00. Presentations will last approximately one hour and will be followed by Q&A with the audience.

Climate Committee

The Mayors' Climate Protection Committee meets the first Thursday of the month from 11 am - 12:30 pm in the Brackett Room, on the third floor of Edmonds City Hall, 121 5th Ave. N. The Committee may hold a special meeting on various topics intended to educate attendees further on climate change.  Special meetings are generally scheduled for the third Thursday of the month. The meetings are held in hybrid format via Zoom.
